What the World Needs Now...

is an Easy Button.

So says my husband after we discussed why Iran wants to cause us pain.

Get Ready for Avian Flu

This just in from Salon's War Room:

It's time to start stockpiling food under our beds.

It reminds me of the advice to buy duct tape and hide out in the bathrooms in case of a terrorist attack. I am so relieved to know that the government has good contingency plan in case of an avian flu pandemic.

Shrubenfreude 3/13/06

It's time for another installment of Shrubenfreude. I'll be trying to make this a weekly entry.

Oh, where should we start?

Ah, yes. The Dubai ports deal. Dead. Dubai World Ports will be "transferring" operation of the US ports to a US entity (sounds like they will be creating a wholly owned subsidiary to do this). What a pity that Shrub won't get the chance to use his veto power. I'm sure he's just itching to use it!

Approval figures are down below 40%.

Republican candidates are seriously beginning to consider Shrub as an albatross in a campaign year. Gosh, I guess that means fewer trips out of DC.

Looks like the political capital Shrub was gonna spend has run out. I wonder how much success he's going to have with Congress?

Here's hoping for another good week for Shrub!

Project Runway Season 2 Finale

Chloe?!? I can’t believe it. Bravo completely faked me out because I thought Santino was going to win. Hmmph. Don’t get me wrong; I like Chloe. But this dress reminds me of Molly Ringwald’s dress in Pretty in Pink (circa 1986).

I hated the dress then; I hate it now.

I would love to buy this sweater by Daniel! Maybe someday....

That's Just Gross!

Money Quote:
Donald Trump on what he'd think if his daughter, Ivanka, posed for Playboy: "I don't think Ivanka would do that, although she does have a very nice figure. I've said if Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I'd be dating her." (Lowdown)

What?

"Crash." Really? Best Picture? I'm still in shock. Very happy for all the other winners. And kudos to TP Gal for predicting so many of the winners. Thumbs up for Jon Stewart. Sigh. He's funny.

My other complaint of the day - Veronica Mars will not be airing a new episode until March 15th. MARCH 15TH!!!!! I know it's irrational to worry about fictional characters but I have a bad feeling about what's going on with Logan.

Wait, I have more complaints! Project Runway is going to end badly, I just know it. I'm a Daniel fan but the last ep made it seem like Santino is the front runner. Ugh. At least I will get to find out on Wednesday.

I know, no political complaints today. I'm too fatigued.

My Job, Not So Bad

Here’s a change – I’m not going to describe the deficiencies of any of my co-workers today. Nope, I’ve decided it could be worse. I could be a window washer.

Usually, I see these guys in a ‘bucket’ (I don’t know what the proper term is). Not this time. They appear to be sitting on playground swings! Sometimes I think my job is a pain but there is no way I could ever, EVER, do this.

Shrubenfreude

I was going to continue my “work is bringing me down” theme but then I realized that Shrub is struggling as well. Let’s see how we compare:

Shrub – Iraq appears to be heading towards civil war as sectarian violence threatens to overtake the country. What a surprise!

Me – We have some sectarian violence of our own as everyone appears to be out to get the IT guy.

Winner: Shrub

Shrub – A poll of US troops in Iraq shows that 72 percent of them think the United States should get out of Iraq within the year; 29 percent say the U.S. should leave Iraq immediately.

Me – I keep getting more work but not getting any help. (I know, poor me, waaah)

Winner: Shrub

Shrub – Looks like he was briefed on the potential levee failure in the Big Easy. I’m shocked he didn’t remember.

Me – I just found how much some people are paid. Surprisingly, the amount of work doesn’t correlate with the amount paid in some cases.

Winner: Shrub

Shrub – His approval ratings are going down, down, down. Which has gotta hurt, particularly in those red states.

Me – Based on my recent review, my approval ratings are up.

Winner: Me

Shrub – He’s surrounded by quality employees.

Me - I’ve got a co-worker who can’t operate anything.

Winner: Shrub

It’s almost a clean sweep for Shrub. Let’s hope things don’t improve! Way to go Shrub! I feel better already.
