What's in a name?

I've been a fan of "The Closer" since last summer. I dvr it so I don't have to stay up to watch it on Monday nights. This week's episode features 2 Japanese victims. Mother, Yumi, daughter Aiko. I haven't quite figured out how all of my friends do it. They can hear their names being called out, used as names for characters on t.v., movies, etc. It seems strange to me because I don't know anyone with my name. Imagine my surprise hearing my name being said over and over again in a t.v. episode. It's nutty. I think they are talking to me or about me so I have a physical reaction. It's a very strange sensation.

The best part, when one of the detectives called her"Yummy." Jeez - it's as if they know. ;-)

Yeah, right . . . like that Yummy thing would ever really happen.

Anyway, Mari, I found this post rather confusing. No one in the episode was named Mari.

I was watching that episode earlier this week and thought, "hey, isn't MWR's friend named Yumi?"
